Production of Voiceover

                          

In Wednesday's lesson we made a start with our voice over which we all created by writing a script of what would be said. We decided for the girl and the Doctor to speak. I did the girls (Maria)  voice as my group said that i have a soothing voice as we wanted the girls voice to sound nostalgic.

                                                                      

Christian did the Doctor's voice as we wanted all of the roles for our title sequence to be between our group of four. We wanted the males voice to be like he is normally talking but in a voice recorder kind of. As Christian is familiar of how to record voices, we went to the music department in school, to the recording studio and the booth for it.













The software we used to create our voice over is Logic Pro on a Mac Computer. We played around with our sound, we tried to distort and change the pitch of the voices. In the end we just decided to give the voices an echo for the girls voice for nostalgia.

In the production of the voice over, at first we couldn't get the voice over to play on a normal computer so we had to go back and figure out how to do that. We realised that the levels of the two voices were not the same when it was played from a normal computer and the files had to be bounced before all of the sound can be saved. When we got that situation sorted out by just redoing the voice over so the levels were the same. I feel like our voice over sounds really natural for the type of genre we are trying to produce.

We based our title sequence on the ideas of Se7en. He has done a few other title sequences such as:

Typography Research

Typography 

In Wednesday's lesson we looked at different typography title sequences as a class. We looked at the following:

• Zombieland (2009)
• Forrest Gump (1994)
• Lord Of War (2005)
• Catch Me If You Can (2002)

As we are looking to make our title sequence point of view-ish, the title sequence that relates to our group idea is 'Lord Of War'  because it also does point of view but as an object instead of a person.

We then looked at the term Serif and Sans Serif during the lesson and we now know the differences between them.

Serif: a slight projection finishing off a stroke of a letter in certain typefaces

Sans Serif: a style of type without serifs.

The typography in Zombieland is in contrast of the killings to become a zombie. The color red connotes and foreshadows death and blood being somewhere in the title sequence. This text does not have any Serif text which would make it Sans Serif.

Practice Pan Shot For Title Sequence

We thought that we should get a feel of what filming a part of our title sequence would be like so we practiced a part of our title sequence that our group is going to begin filming the shots for the title sequence next week during half term now the locations and props have been decided and the storyboard is finished. We decided to practice shots using the Steadicam which I found difficult and frustrating.

We decided to take a demo shot of our first shot of our title sequence, I think she worked well for a first attempt and when we film next week it will be better because we took this shot in a cramped area which made it hard to move with the camera.

I'm glad our group did some practicing with the pan shots because I have realised how difficult it is due to the weight of the Steadicam. We decided that we can't change the Steadicam for a Dolly because a lot of our scenes are quite closed in and low and the Steadicam is more ideal for that. We also found tightening the Steadicams for the different shots quite difficult aswell as there is many different places where you can loosen and tighten parts.

This is our first practice shot of our first scene of a pan-shot of the girl's legs underneath her desk. When filming this for the title sequence, the setting will be better dressed, darker and the actress (Megan) will be dressed to fit to the theme of our film.

Test of Camerawork

 We had a half day so me and my group decided to test out my camera that i brought in from home to see if we can use it for our filming so we dont have to use the schools one. One of the first things we did was Zoom in and Zoom out shots.

They came out better than i thought it would come out because i didnt think that the camera would focus on the words properly but it did.We tested this shot because we are planning to use the type of shot in our title sequence when the doctor and Maria are both writting in their diaries.

Typography / Research

We looked at typography that we could use for our title sequence using, 'Da Font',we wanted edgy and weird font to flow with out suspense title sequence. We made up two major star characters that are playing the two main characters in our title sequence.

These are the few typographys we came up with so far for out title sequence. We just played around with the different type of text we coould use and the different sizes as well. The first and second one we decided as a group that they are the best.
